In New Jersey students could go to jail for carrying a beeper to school. Students would get suspended, but it is against the law to carry a pager to school in New Jersey, Michigan, Virginia, and may other states. Some educators believe beepers are associated with drug deals and gangs activity, and removing the devices from school would make schools safer. In my opinion I think beeper’s should not be banned.

Today beepers are mamstream, carrying beepers doesn’t always mean drugs and gangs, they are style in 90’s. people said carrying beepers during the class will interrupts the class, but students could simply set their pagers on vibrating mode. Many students carry beepers maybe because their parents want them to reach their children easily in a emergency. There a law if parents need to reach their children in a emergency, they could always call the school office, but if some parents don’t know English I think that is hard for the parents to reach their children.

I think banned beepers can’t help for make school safer because now many students are carrying beepers to school, you can’t take all students to jail. I think it was a problem. Hopefully the state government could think about this kind of problem and resolve it another way.
